On the last day of our trip to Xinjiang in 2023, we came to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum. Its collections are extremely rich, just like the vast territory of Xinjiang, we are dazzled. Then we had something to eat at the largest shopping mall in Urumqi across the road, then arrived at the airport and embarked on our way back to Beijing.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum located at No.132 Xibei Road, Urumqi. It was established in 1959 and has a construction area of 17,288 square meters. The collection is extremely rich, with about 32,000 items, including 288 first-class items.

Mummies: Loulan female corpse, Yingpan male corpse, female mummy in Xiaohe Cemetery, Qiemo male corpse and female corpse;
“Five stars come out of the east to benefit China” brocade armour, fragments of the Yanqi script “The Meeting with Maitreya”, bronze warrior figurines, paintings of Fuxi and Nuwa, and painted clay figurines of ladies riding horses and wearing curtain hats.

April 15th to October 15th: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00~18:00
October 16th to April 14th of the following year: Tuesday to Sunday 10:30~18:00
Entry is closed at 16:30 every day, and admission is limited to 2,000 people per day. It is free and requires reservation in advance.

Take buses 7, 51, 52, 66, 68, 303, 305, 309, 311, 518, 906, 910, 912 and 928 and get off at the Museum Station.
Or take bus No. 23, 34 or 527 and get off at Qiaotou Station, then walk 500 meters north along Northwest Road.
Or take Bus Rapid Transit (Urumqi BRT) No. 5 and get off at Northwest Road Station, then walk south along Northwest Road for about 500 meters.
