We visited the Tower of Silence, a sky burial site built by Zoroastrians for reincarnation in the southern city of Yazd, Iran.

The Tower of Silence (Persian: Įмه) is a circular platform built on the top of a mountain. Zoroastrians will process the body of the deceased and carry it to the platform to wait for vultures to eat. Finally, the remaining bones were filled into the central pit, where further weathering and continued decomposition occurred. This avoids contamination from direct contact of the body with soil or water.
