During our tour in Tehran, the capital of Iran, we came to the 400-year-old Golestan Palace.
This palace was rebuilt in several dynasties after its completion. During the last Pahlavi dynasty, some old ones were demolished, and what is finally presented to us is what it looks like now.
Golestan Palace, which can also be translated as “Rose Garden Palace” (Persian: کاخ گلستان, Kākh-e Golestān), was built in the 16th century, rebuilt in the 18th century, and completed in 1865.
It served as the royal office of the Qajar dynasty in Tehran, and the subsequent ruling center of the Persian dynasty in Tehran. The coronation ceremony of the two last dynasties, Riza Pahlavi, was held here. The Golestan Palace is also the most historic place in Tehran and has been named a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
