We arrived at Meybod in the east from Isfahan early in the morning. Even though it may just be a small town with a population of 100K people now, it is said to be an “important town” with a history of 7,000 years.
Not only was it an important stop on the Silk Road, it also served as the capital of the dynasty before the Mongol invasion.
There are many historical sites in Meybod, among which we will visit the Shah Abbas Caravanserai and Restaurant, the Ice House and the Pigeon Tower, which are all very representative.
Contemporary Meybod is also an important town in Iran’s Yazd province, with more than a hundred industrial units, mainly enameling and steelmaking. There is also a comprehensive university here with nearly 9,000 students.
