After the Shah Mosque was built, it replaced the Jumrah Mosque for Friday prayers. Although the south side of Naqsh-e Jahan Square is not aligned with Mecca, the designer of the mosque designed iwan on the north side so that people’s prayers can face Mecca, and the north side of iwan can also be seen from the square. Nowadays, the Shah Mosque is only used for tourists.
